The Dead Milkmen

Last night I went to The Dead Milkmen concert at the Warsaw in Greenpoint Brooklyn. I have to admit I didn't know who they were-only the Punk Rock Girl song. Anyway it was fun. They severed perogies, but we would have missed out if Sar hadnt check that out. yay.a . I even moshed. I have video and pictures. My videos suck but the youtube camera person had my view pretty much.

these are mine

After the concert we went to a diner in Park Slope because all the kitchen were closed in GP. Afterwards I needed to get back to Harlem and the idea of taking a cab all the way was not something I can afford. The R train was near by, but I hate waiting for a train/transfer at 2:30 am. So I jumped in a cab to the nearest 2/3 train. The train that will take me to Harlem.

The driver seemed normal at first. Asked me where to and I answered Atlantic Ave. He said you know its really not too safe around there at night. It was the second time I was told that. So I asked him to take me to Fulton St in Manhattan. I figured that wouldn't break the bank. We were off to Manhanttan. We passed by the Atlantic Ave. stop and there were lots of people standing around. I don't know if they were dangerous people or just people. It seemed save enough, but we zipped by so fast that I didn't have time to think about getting out.

Now, I had only been away for about 7 hours but crossing the Brooklyn bridge and seeing all those buildings...It felt like flying in from a long trip and I seeing the Empire state and Chrysler buildings like chess pieces. I guess I was just really sleepy. While I was trying to bond with the city the cab driver start asking me questions. Where am I from. What's my nationality. Those type of questions the could remain small talk or get creepy really fast.

We pulled up to Fulton st near the 456 subway. I handed the driver a 20. he paused and said "You know I could take you up to Harlem not problem"

"Oh I don't have money for that, this is fine." For a second I wondered if he meant he could drive me to harlem for the $20 I just gave him. Some cabbies may turn off the meter if you ask them and negotiate a price like a gypsy cab. I assume they pocket the fare. I've asked before when I was short. anyway, I did think for a moment that he meant to pocket the 20 and drive me out of pitty. Then again the meter had already been running, so that wouldn't work. Then he said, "I don't mind taking you for free."

I think my face was pale - i wanted my change.

He continued "I don't have a lot of friends. You have very pretty eyes."

Shit. Ok so I got out of the cab and was very glad I paid in cash. I didn't need him know my address. It wasn't very long before I found the 2/3 train.

oh this reminded me. There may still be a cab driver not looking for "friend" but who will no charge you if you can answer 3 American History/geography questions. I'm assuming that they are on the US citizen exam. 1. name 3 states who's capitol are names of US presidents. 2.) name 3 US states who's capitals begin with the same letter as it's state. I can't remember 3 but it had to do with states.
