Pride Marches

In my past 9 summers in NYC I have only watched the Gay Pride parade a few times. Once I had to cross it while driving a Uhaul cube truck. sounds very appropriate. The parade lasts for about 7 hours, so I usually see the tail end after it has arrived in the Village. Jose once had a scheme to design and sell Pride t-shirts there. It could have been a cool idea if he had ordered more than just small sizes. However, his target audience (small size buyers) would rather buy $10 for metallic tasting pina colada than a t-shirt. There is one more time I can recall. Seth, Jose, Gigi and I went to the Big Cup afterward. The Big Cup was a gay coffee shop with lots of couches and long tables, usually good music except when they played kenny G's xmas album to clear out the place and close early. bitches. I've gotten way off track. Ok this year I actually participated. And although Indian Tacos, tootie rolls and the Spider were not there I had fun.

Saturday I ran the Pride 5 mile race in Central Park and PRed with a time of 54:45. Then I had to go to work. After Work, I marched in the Dyke March (it's real name) with a coworker of mine. Her friends belong to a gay friendly church in New Jersey. They asked me to march with them in the Sunday's Pride Parade. It kicked off at noon and we finished the 3.5 mile route around 4:30 at which time the parade was still under have way over.

I will add more pictures soon, but here are a few.

new friends who let me march with their gay friendly church group.

This is the group that followed ours.

My phone usually takes larger pictures but I accidently set it on tiny.

This is my new apartment from the outside.

I have a real stoop. That is my window behind me.

It's hard to see, but the truck has a gaping hole above and around the latch.

This is what I love about New York. Broadway and 38ish street.

Brian at the Ball

I would like to have colored this in marker, but I wanted to show Brian before he left work. Plus, I'm not so fast with markers and I have yet to color a background and lighting with them.

There is a "true" story(ies) behind this image. I don't know how he feels about me blogging on the incident that happened in one of the biggest networking parties of the year. I think this is rock-of-love type attacker is the one we are going with.

Falls off Skateboard

I'm trying to learn how to use markers well. So I'm practicing on something I like to draw a lot....myself. This is me falling off my skateboard in front of the bandshell in Central Park few weeks ago. It hurt a whole lot. I wasn't even trying a trick. I usually stand like i'm batting right handed, but I wanted to balance with my right foot in front.

I'm using the Graphics 360 paper from work. Its supposed to be good for marker. My boss told to color on both sides of the paper to make it richer.
